The NSBE Aerospace Special Interest Group (SIG) is a strategic technical function of NSBE helping to enable members and partners in Transforming the Aerospace Industry. We focus on equipping NSBE members and partners of all generations with tools to support innovating aerospace solutions throughout their lifetime through Engineering Research, Professional Development Forums, Outreach Activities, and Aerospace Policy Advocacy. 

We provide industry-relevant experiences that challenge and sharpen one’s technical and leadership proficiency. Join us as we empower the next generations of Aerospace Industry professionals, students, and enthusiasts!

NSBE Aerospace Internship Opportunities 

RESEARCH SEMINAR AND CORPORATE INTERNSHIP 

This track offers participants a unique opportunity to discuss, practice, and train in the delivery of technical speeches. Additional benefits include the opportunity to grow your professional network and explore job opportunities. 

Time Commitment:  2 – 3 hours per week 

Schedule Commitment:  September through May 

Payment Eligibility:  Yes, through a paid corporate internship 

Reimbursement Eligibility:  Yes, for pre-approved expenses 

Requirements: Participants must submit at least one conference presentation to the NSBE national and/or regional conference. Additional opportunities exist to submit to NSBE Aerospace partner organization conferences as well. Please note, participating companies where the internship is performed, may have separate presentation content requirements and/or restrictions.

STEM TEACHING OPPORTUNITY 

This track allows participants to develop and apply their leadership skills while being paid to educate the next generation of scientists. Along with the students, you can learn interesting skills in areas such as orbital mechanics, python, drones, CubeSat technology, and more. 

Time Commitment:  

STEM Summer Job (5 hours per day) 

STEM Outreach (5 hours per week, maximum) 

Schedule Commitment:   

STEM Summer Job (June through August) 

STEM Outreach (September through May) 

Payment Eligibility:  Yes, with paid summer job 

Reimbursement Eligibility:  Yes, for pre-approved expenses 

Requirements: Only U.S. based students may apply. Participants must assist in outreach challenges with a NSBE Aerospace partner organization throughout the internship year (StellarExplorers or BeaverWorks)

PROJECT MANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS INTERNSHIP 

Here, participants will have the opportunity to directly contribute and expand their network within NSBE and NSBE Aerospace. Additional benefits include the ability to build up credit and/or experience towards your project management professional certification and/or six sigma certification. 

Time Commitment:  3 - 5hours per week 

Schedule Commitment:  April through March 

Payment Eligibility:  No 

Reimbursement Eligibility:  Yes, for pre-approved expenses 

Requirements: U.S. and International students may apply. Participants must submit at least one conference presentation to the NSBE national and/or regional conference. Additional opportunities exist to submit to NSBE Aerospace partner organization conferences as well.
